Well, new-ish things ... This was my shoot still from the US. This time with Monica Mc Kenna and model Renee Mann. It was my feeling, for the first time we made contact, that working with Monica and Renee would be great, and yes it was. And hey, Renee Mann is one of senior catwalk models featuring on America's Next Top Model TV Show, no wonder she is so connect with camera and have unique edgy look.

Working with Miss Belgium

I honestly say I thoroughly enjoy being involved in this industry. Meeting special people (from unique models,  creative MUAs, to awesome fashion designers), expressing my sense of art, designing concepts, and selecting beautiful wardrobe are trully exciting and relaxing for me.

One of  sessions which brought a lot of fun for me and my team was shooting Miss Belgium, Melissa van Oostveldt and Sanne de Bie in Antwerpen. I worked for Ilviso, a fashion and beauty consultant from Belgium for its publication and advertising project (Ilviso websites: http://www.ilviso.eu/ and http://www.ilviso.be/ ).

My idea came alight with a wonderful team Inggrid as MUA and stylist, Intan, Dina, Tiara as assistants,  Melissa and Sanne as models. Although found a bit tricky to direct Sanne for posing in the beginning :),  we had fun time together that day. Sanne is cooperative and very nice girl. She has an edgy look, we like it. About Melissa, it was easy to direct her since she has more experiences in modelling and holds many beauty pageant titles in Belgium and in International events, from Miss Belgium to Miss World of Civilization. Melissa is also very friendly and kind. (Melissa's Website: Miss Civilization of the World). That was really fun and valuable experience working with Melissa, Sanne and Inggrid. A big thank you to Ilviso for the project.

I gain new things to learn from every project, one thing is about fashion photography career. It is a high competitive career to make, actually. It needs abundant of skill and knowledge particularly working in Europe or US, the center of world fashion industry. Fashion photography is one of the most favourite career choices here. In Netherlands, there are a lot of great fashion photographer working for high fashion industry although not as many as in Paris, Milan, London, New York, and Los Angeles. Still, Netherlands is a place for fashion industry. I found many great make up artists and fashion designers as well here. However, fashion photography is not limited by countries' border. It is one of the most mobile careers accross borders. That's also why I like it. Moreover, fashion photography leads me to always update my sense of art and fashion through various sources. Vogue, Bazaar, Elle, Allure, Marie Claire, Beau Monde, and many more fashion magazines, you name it :D, are my daily reading instead of politic and economic journals when I was a lecturer :).

Back to my project with Ilviso, It was Ilviso's concept - more futuristik look - adopted recent Thierry Mugler advertising campaign to apply golden make up to the model. The location was at a five floors typical European building, situated in a prestige area in Antwerpen where we could easily find some high fashion dresses and accessories around. Ilviso provided us two studio rooms with complete lighting set. For lighting I used combination of rembrant light and standard beauty shoot lighting. We lit the models with an Elinchrom set combined with my Bowens light. The background was seamless white with some ornamens lit with two head from right and left side and also building interior. The main photos were shot on a Nikon while other using Canon. Wardrobe styling was prepared by Ilviso. Below are the results and 'behind the scene' documentations.
